My Bit for the Times’ “Documenting the Decade”
2009 December 22
The Times is having a Document the Decade feature, so naturally they’re soliciting photos (maybe they need to look up the meaning of “document”). The idea is, you submit a photograph with a brief description, and they’ll post it to their website. So, d’ya think the Times will be posting this photo I submitted, from a protest march against the Iraq War, which I attended a few years back? Well, maybe not when they read the description I appended:
While the mainstream media, led by the New York Times and its stellar stable of writers, including Judy Miller and Tom “Six Month” Friedman, formed a loud and raucous cheerleading section for the Bush administration’s war of lies in Iraq, ordinary New Yorkers, numbering in the tens of thousands, took to the streets on numerous occasions to protest that illegal, inhuman, and wasteful war; and to clearly call out the truth that they felt within themselves.
