At Least She Hasn’t Shot Anyone’s Face Off

lightpostHoliday weekend, time for the fun stuff. The graphic there opens a Quicktime video (22MB) of Brooklyn, NY and Prospect Park.

Stars Hawking Geek Toys: A geek blogger has collected a bunch of new and vintage videos of Hollywood types hawking PCs and other tech toys. Go see Shatner, Cosby, Aniston, Plimpton, Seinfeld, and even Tip O’Neill in action as they try to make cash registers ring for Apple, MS, Commodore, TI, and others.

Another Day in Media Fantasy-Land: Frank Rich hits the target dead-center today on the media, fantasy, technology, and the new world informational order. In reading the following paragraph, I was reminded how the GOP op-ed horse of the Times’ stable, David Brooks, once referred to the Obama candidacy as “Disney.” The reality, of course, is that this glass slipper is quite on the other foot: it’s the MSM that is Disney.

The main reason McCain knuckled under to the religious right by picking Palin is that he actually believes there’s a large army of embittered Hillary loyalists who will vote for a hard-line conservative simply because she’s a woman. That’s what happens when you listen to the TV news echo chamber. Not only is the whole premise ludicrous, but it is every bit as sexist as the crude joke McCain notoriously told about Janet Reno, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton.

Eclipse at the Great Wall: Beautiful image at APOD today of the recent solar eclipse over the Great Wall of China.

What’s News in Alaska? Check out Anchorage Daily News and catch up on lawn mower racing, the tattoo gallery, corruption in state government, and, of course Sarah’s photo montage and bio. She loves to kill bear, eat moose, and then put their skins onto the furniture. But she has never, ever, shot anyone in the face.

It’s only a heartbeat away…
